About Me

First off, welcome!

Prior to starting my private practice I practiced for several years at a Mental Health Agency, accumulating experience working with children, adolescents and adults while using the following modalities: individual therapy, couples therapy and family therapy in an effort to meet my client's needs and allow for maximal growth and overall well-being.

I have always wanted to help individuals around me evolve and overcome difficult situations that life puts us in and felt that Marriage and Family Therapy was the field that encompassed most of the practices I wanted to expand on.

I am certified in several Evidence Based Practices (EBP), which is the concept that occupational practices ought to be based on scientific evidence for maximal progress in outcomes.

I am certified in the following EBPs:

  • Individual Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Trained by the Academy of  Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies which is a global community of mental health professionals dedicated to upholding excellence in the dissemination, implementation, and practice of cognitive behavior therapies. Cognitive therapy is one of the few forms of psychotherapy that has been scientifically tested and found to be effective in over three hundred clinical trials for many different disorders. In contrast to other forms of psychotherapy, cognitive therapy is usually more focused on the present, more time-limited, and more problem-solving oriented. Indeed, much of what the patient does is solve current problems. In addition, patients learn specific skills that they can use for the rest of their lives. These skills involve identifying distorted thinking, modifying beliefs, relating to others in different ways, and changing behaviors.

  • Positive Parenting Program

The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program is one of the most effective evidence-based parenting programs in the world, backed up by more than 35 years of ongoing research. Triple P gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behavior and prevent problems developing. Triple P is currently used in more than 25 countries and has been shown to work across cultures, socio-economic groups and in many different kinds of family structures.

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behaviors Therapy (TF-CBT) is an evidence-based treatment for children and adolescents impacted by trauma and their parents or caregivers. Research shows that TF-CBT successfully resolves a broad array of emotional and behavioral difficulties associated with single, multiple and complex trauma experiences.

  • Managing and Adapting Practices

The Managing and Adapting Practices system was designed to address a concrete problem encountered in modern behavioral healthcare—improving outcomes and quality of care. MAP achieves these aims through structured collaboration, a framework for coordinating individuals and information around key decisions. MAP provides a unifying set of concepts and resources to organize and guide activity across a diverse service array, across levels of care, across populations, and across health care settings.

As my experience and knowledge grow with my clients and my clients' needs, I will continue to get trained in practices that may serve as best as possible.
